Ginger Molasses Cookies

 

I’ve made these cookies for the last 5 years now, they have become a family favourite. Soft and chewy, spiced cookies that taste like the holidays. 

 

What You’ll Need:

 

2 1/4 Cups Flour

2 Teaspoons Ground Ginger

1 Teaspoon Baking Soda

1 Teaspoon Cinnamon

1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cloves

1/4 Teaspoon Salt

3/4 Cup Butter (softened)

1 Cup Sugar

1 Egg

1 Tablespoon Orange Juice

1/4 Cup Molasses

1/4 Cup Sugar

 

 

The How To:

 

  1. In a medium bowl sift together dry ingredients including, flour, ginger, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Set aside.

 

  1. In a separate bowl cream butter and 1 cup sugar together. Add in egg and beat until fully incorporated.

 

  1. Add in orange juice and molasses until combined. In small batches add in the dry ingredients mix until just combined.

 

  1. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.

 

  1. Pre heat oven to 350°. Remove dough from the fridge and scoop around 2 tablespoon sized balls. Roll the dough in the 1/4 cup sugar, fully coating it. Place onto a lined baking tray and flatten down a bit.

 

  1. Bake for 9-11 minutes. Remove from oven and set on a wire rack to cool.
